Welcome

We are a friendly, committee run, community based, charity playgroup located in the Copthorne Village Hall.
We are open term time only, 9:15 - 12:15, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 9.00 - 12.00 on a Wednesday. On Monday and Friday we hold our very popular Lunch Club from 12:15 - 13:15 and on Wednesday we run a Rising 5s session from 12:30 - 15:30 for the older children who will be attending school in September. We cater for children aged 2 to school age. We can accommodate 26 children per session and have 5 members of staff present. This enables us to give the children extra support and attention.
We are guided by The Early Years Foundation Stage and each child has an Individual Learning Journal to enable us to monitor and promote the child’s development. We work in partnership with parents to ensure that the child has a consistency of care and education, recognising that parents are their child’s first and main educator.
We also recognise that each child is an individual, with individual needs, interests and learning styles. We encourage children to become independent by providing a safe and secure environment with easy access to resources. This allows them to become confident, make decisions and develop their problem solving skills. These are all skills that will be needed in later life, to enable them to reach their full potential.
We are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, who are our advisory body. We are registered with Ofsted and have to meet their strict criteria regarding the health, safety and welfare of children. This entails spot checks and an inspection. We were inspected in June 2010 and received an "Outstanding" for our setting. The latest report is available to view at www.ofsted.gov.uk.
