WHO ARE WE?

We are a community run, charity playgroup located in Copthorne Village Hall. We are open during term time only and look after children from the age of two years to school age.

We are members of the Early Years Alliance, who are our advisory body.  We are registered with Ofsted and have to meet their strict criteria regarding the health, safety and welfare of children which entails spot checks and an inspection.  The latest inspection was in May 2019 and the playgroup was judged as being good.  This is available to view at www.ofsted.gov.uk.

We offer the opening hours listed below.  Your child can either start at 09:00 and leave at 12:00, 13:00 or 15:00, or start at 09:15 and leave at 12:15, 13:15 or 15:15 depending on what sessions they attend.  The afternoon sessions are available for children over the age of three years and they are able to attend the morning and afternoon session consecutively. We are also introducing an early drop off/late pick up service, so you can drop your child from 08:30 and collect them at 15:30 for a small charge.

WHAT DO WE DO?

At Peter Pan we have a workshop environment enabling children to have choice and promote independence whilst meeting the curriculum of the Department for Education for the Early Years Foundation Stage of Learning.

STAY AND PLAY

We have a waiting list for children wishing to start at the playgroup from the age of two years. A £40 deposit is payable when you fill in our registration form except if your child is eligible for the 2 year Free Entitlement (please provide your 2 year funding reference number).  This will be refunded in your first term's fees.  Once you are on the waiting list you are welcome to attend on a stay and play basis.  The stay and play children are solely your responsibility, and are welcome to join in all our activities with your guidance.

You can pre-book your sessions in the Daybook, if you wish, as we limit ourselves to 2 stay and play children each morning and a maximum of 8 play and stay sessions per child.  Details of the cost for this can be found by clicking here.

You can attend all or part of the morning to accustom your child to the staff, children, timetable and building before they start playgroup without you.  This can make all the difference with the settling in process.

FEES

Details of the current fees can be found by clicking here.   An invoice will be sent out at the beginning of each half term showing the amount due and payment is required within two weeks of the start of term.  Holidays and any absence due to illness during term time must still be paid for.  Due to staff to child ratios we are unable to offer alternative sessions to make up for lost sessions or swap sessions to accommodate other arrangements.

If you no longer require a place at Peter Pan Playgroup half a term’s notice in writing is required or the fee is payable.

COMMITTEE

The Playgroup is run by a committee of parents and carers.  We would love new parents to get involved – it only takes up a small amount of time.  It gives you a chance to make friends as well as help your children.  Please speak to a member of staff about joining when your child starts at Peter Pan.  Please click here for more details of our committee.  We look forward to seeing you on our committee.

EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE

Peter Pan Playgroup complies with the new Early Years Foundation Stage scheme.  Under this scheme the children will have the opportunity to go outside for outdoor play each day.  Please could you make sure they are suitably dressed for the weather (coats and wellies if wet, sun hats and sun cream if hot). Please ensure that clothing is brought with them every session they attend.  Please CLEARLY LABEL all clothing and footwear.

More details of the EYFS can be found on www.ofsted.gov.uk.

LUNCH CLUB

We offer a lunch club which enables the children to develop the social skills needed for starting school and to enjoy having lunch with their playgroup friends.

The children attending the lunch club will start their session at either 09:00 or 9.15 and be picked up at 1:00 or 1:15pm.  You would need to provide a healthy packed lunch and drink in named container. Details of the current rate can be found by clicking here

If your child receives the Free Entitlement the lunch club can be incorporated into the 15/30 hours free education.
